PREP VOLLEYBALL

Rainier 3, Raymond-South Bend 0

Raymond-South Bend lost to Rainier 3-0 in a 2B District 4 Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday at Adna High School.

The Ravens (8-6 overall) lost by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-14 to the Mountaineers (15-3).

“We played them pretty evenly most of the time, but gave up runs of four or five points a couple of times each set and we didn’t respond,” RSB head coach Julie Jewell said. “Rainier has a big front line that is very effective blocking and attacking. That gave us fits. Our serving is one of our strengths, but we missed too many. We will make some adjustments and regroup.”

Jewell commended the play of freshmen Elizabeth Lewis and Macey Enlow for their “great composure in their first district game.”

RSB completed 32 of 40 serves (80%) with just one ace in the match.

The Ravens face Onalaska in an elimination game at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at South Bend High School.

Rainier 25 25 25 – 3

RSB 12 14 14 – 0

Leading players: RSB – Morley (11 assists); Pine (7-9 service, ace); Koski (8-8 service, 6 kills); Baugher (6 kills, 4 assists); Delgado (assist); Howell (2 kills); Enlow (3 kills).
