PREP SOFTBALL
Aberdeen 6, Tumwater 3
The third time was the charm for the Aberdeen Bobcats in a 6-3 win over Tumwater on Tuesday in Aberdeen.
The Bobcats (12-4 overall) beat the Thunderbirds (13-4) for the first time in three tries this season by scoring runs late to overcome an early two-run deficit.
The Cats tied the game when starting pitcher Lilly Camp belted a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
After Tumwater scored a run in the top of the fifth to regain the lead, the Bobcats scored a run on an error followed by a two-run home run by first baseman Annika Hollingsworth.
Camp did the rest, shutting out the T-Birds over the final two innings to earn the non-league victory.
Camp led Aberdeen at the plate with a 2-for-3 day and allowed an earned run on seven hits and four walks with 10 strikeouts in tossing a complete-game victory.
Aberdeen faces Shelton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in a 2A Evergreen Conference matchup in Aberdeen.
