Elma 10, Cascade Christian 1

Propelled by a big third inning, Elma opened its season with a 10-1 romp over Cascade Christian in Renton.

The Eagles (2-0) trailed 1-0 in the top of the third when the bats came alive. Elma took a 3-1 lead on an Aubree Simmons two-run single and took command of the game with three-straight RBI hits from right fielder Chloe Donais, catcher Raelynn Weld and center fielder Mia Monroe to take a 9-1 lead.

A solo inside-the-park home run from the speedy Monroe in the top of the sixth gave the Eagles a 10-1 lead.

That was more than enough run support for sophomore starting pitcher Ashlynn Weld, who picked up the win by allowing one earned run on one hit and three walks with nine strikeouts in 4 1-3 innings pitched.

Keira White gave up three hits with a strikeout in 2 2-3 scoreless innings pitched for the Eagles.

Seven different Eagles recorded a base hit in the game, led by Monroe (3-4, HR, 2R, 2RBI) and Raelynn Weld (2-3, R, 2RBI) with multi-hit games.
