Montesano and Elma emerged from Spring Break with victories as we review Tuesday’s prep softball action on the Harbor.
PREP SOFTBALL
Montesano 12, Eatonville 0
Montesano showed no signs of rust coming off a long Spring Break with a 12-0 rout of Eatonville on Tuesday at Montesano High School.
The Bulldogs (2-2 overall, 1-0 1A Evergreen) needed just one half-inning to leave little doubt as to the outcome.
Monte scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning as the first seven Bulldogs batters reached base with singles.
Infielder Addi Kersker capped the inning with an RBI triple to stake the Bulldogs to an 11-0 lead.
The Bulldogs tacked on a run in the third when pitcher Riley Timmons singled with two outs to score Josie Forster with Monte’s 12th run.
That was more than enough run support for Timmons, who was sharp in allowing one hit and a walk while striking out 13 in pitching five shutout innings to earn the win.
Of Timmons’ 81 pitches in the game, 49 were for strikes (60%).
Ten different hitters collected a base hit for Montesano in the game, with left fielder Liv Robinson (2-2, 2R, RBI), catcher Ali Parkin (2-2, 2B, RBI), Timmons (2-3, RBI) and Kersker (2-2, 3B, R, RBI) having multi-hit games.
Six Eatonville errors led to four unearned runs for Montesano, which didn’t draw a walk in the game.
The Bulldogs face Royal in a rematch of last season’s 1A State Championship game at 7 p.m. on Friday at Walla Walla Community College.
