Napavine 3, Raymond-South Bend 1
Raymond-South Bend’s start to the postseason didn’t play out as the Ravens hoped with a 3-1 loss to Napavine in the second round of the 2B District 4 Tournament in Raymond.
The reigning Pacific League champion Ravens (12-4 overall) got off to a good start with a 25-15 win in Game 1, but lost the next three sets 25-21, 26-24 and 25-11, including a Game 3 loss where RSB was ahead 24-23.
“We couldn’t get out of serve-receive and gave up three points. The game turned on those three points,” RSB head coach Julie Jewell said. “We played well, we just came up short.”
RSB was led by Emily Howell (11 kills), Kassie Koski (10 kills) and Berklee Morley (30 assists).
“As disappointing as it is to lose, I’m proud of how we played,” Jewell said. “It was our best game this year. We will regroup and continue to improve this week.”
With the loss, the Ravens will face North Beach in an elimination game at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Napavine High School.
