Montesano and Ocosta are that much closer to clinching their respective league crowns after wins on Thursday as we review Twin Harbors prep volleyball games.

PREP VOLLEYBALL
Montesano 3, Hoquiam 0
Montesano all but wrapped up the 1A Evergreen League title with a straight-set win over Hoquiam on Thursday at Hoquiam Square Garden.
The Bulldogs (11-2 overall, 6-0 1A Evergreen) won 25-16, 25-22 and 25-14 over the Grizzlies (7-5, 3-2), sweeping the two-game season series over Hoquiam.
“It was great to get the win tonight but the girls were definitely a bit off. They just seemed like they were a step behind,” Montesano head coach Cindy Wecker said. “In the third set we won a 57-second rally with a huge hit by (Kaila) Hatton and I think that was the first glimpse of any real energy and excitement we saw from the girls. From that point on, I felt like we were able to keep the momentum on our side.”
Hatton had 18 digs and 11 blocks while Bulldog teammate Karissa Otterstetter had 10 digs and a team-high 27 assists for Monte.
Senior defensive specialist Liv Robinson had 21 digs while middle blocker Kylee Wisdom added 11 kills for Monte.
“We knew we were going to get their best and we didn’t step up and compete,” Hoquiam head coach Heather Bozich said. “We’ll get back to work and finish the season strong.”
Bozich recognized the play of freshman outside hitter Aaliyah Kennedy, who had 12 kills in the game, middle blocker Sydney Gordon for her play at the net, and setter libero Lexi LaBounty for her passing and serve reception.
The Bulldogs now sit 2.5 games ahead of Hoquiam for the top spot in the league heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
Monte takes on Rainier in a non-league game at 7 p.m. on Monday in Rainier.
Hoquiam will host Taholah in a non-league contest also scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday.

Tenino 3, Elma 0
Elma missed a chance to move into third place with a 3-0 loss to Elma on Thursday in Tenino.
The Eagles (5-6, 2-4 1A Evergreen) lost 25-21, 25-23 and 25-21 to the Beavers (7-7, 3-3).
“They were close games tonight. We made quite a few adjustments to our game the day before and the girls did a good job bringing those things to the court tonight,” said Elma head coach Natalie Windle, who commended the play of junior Emily Escoffon. “Emily had a fantastic night up at the net! She was tracking hitters and getting a ton of touches on the ball.”
Senior libero Ally Warren had 20 digs to lead the Eagles.
With the loss, Elma sits one game behind Tenino for the third spot in the 1A Evergreen League and will play a non-league match against Raymond-South Bend at 7 p.m. on Monday in South Bend.

Ocosta 3, Willapa Valley 1
Ocosta moved one step closer to locking up the 1B Coastal-North title with a 3-1 win over Willapa Valley on Thursday in Westport.
The Wildcats (12-1, 10-0 1B Coastal-North) dropped the first set to the Vikings (9-4, 7-4) 25-17 before rallying to win the next three games by identical scores of 25-14.
Libero Noel Cuzdey went perfect from the service line with eight aces and had 24 digs for Ocosta.
Wildcats hitters Anna Davis (17 kills) and Jolissa Schlegel (9 kills) were the beneficiaries of several sets by sisters Ava and Millie Tucker.
“I felt like we started set one off a bit flat. We made some defensive adjustments and we took off,” Ocosta head coach Erin Snider said. “Ava and Millie worked very well together tonight and were able to put up some beautiful sets. Between our smart offense and Noel’s defense, we were in the groove. I’m really looking forward to districts and seeing how far we can go.”
Ocosta is 1.5 games ahead of Taholah for the top spot in the league and can clinch the outright league crown with a win over Naselle at 7 p.m. Monday in Naselle.

Raymond-South Bend 3, Chief Leschi 0
Raymond-South Bend remained one game back of first place with a straight-set victory over Chief Leschi on Thursday in South Bend.
The Ravens (4-5, 3-1 2B Pacific) won 25-9, 25-12 and 25-10 over the Warriors (3-5, 0-3).
“It was a strong offensive night for us, both at the service line and at the net,” RSB head coach Julie Jewell said. “We played with good energy and great focus all night.”
Ava Pine had 13 aces from the service line while Ava Baugher had 11 kills to lead RSB, which sits one game behind first-place Forks for the top spot in the 2B Pacific League.
The Ravens’ junior varsity team lost 2-1 on Thursday.
RSB hosts Elma in a non-league matchup scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at South Bend High School.
