CENTRALIA — Pe Ell-Willapa Valley couldn’t have asked for a much more perfect start to the District IV 2B tournament on Wednesday. The Titans had home runs by four different players and plated 10 runs in the fourth inning to roll past Onalaska 17-0 at Fort Borst Park in Centralia.
PWV’s Dakota Brooks showed just how dominant she can be in the circle striking out two and retiring all three batters in order in the top of the inning. Then Brooks showed she is an offensive threat as well. After Katelynn McGough and Katie Adkins each singled and Sidney Pollard earned a walk, Brooks belted a home run to left field for a grand slam.
While the four runs in the first would be more than enough offense for the Titans, PWV added three more runs in the third, highlighted by a solo home run from Britany Patrick.
Defensively, Brooks led the Titans with seven strikeouts and only allowed two hits in the contest.
If ever there were the offensive equivalent of a perfect inning, the fourth would have been that inning for the Titans. Starting the inning off with a solo home run by Katie Adkins, the Titans took advantage of five walks and singles by Sidney Pollard and Kamryn Adkins to roll through the order without recording an out and scoring seven runs. After a pop fly recorded the Titans only out of the inning, Pollard crushed a pitch over the right field fence for a 3-run home run to end the game in four innings.
“Dakota was on tonight in the circle,” PWV head coach Ken Olson said. “It was just a good all-around start for us. We hit the ball well from top to bottom and we had four home runs from four different people.”
The Titans will head back to Centralia today to face Adna at 6 p.m., for a chance to play in the district title game.
