YAKIMA — Six Twin Harbor football players got one final chance to represent their high schools on Saturday when they took part in the Earl Barden East-West All-Star Classic at East Valley High School in Yakima.
The West squad, which had five of the six Twin Harborites, won the contest, 35-13. Aberdeen’s Braden Castleberry-Taylor earned the East squad’s Defensive MVP honors and he caught one of the East’s two touchdowns, a 19-yard reception.
Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s Kaelin Jurek caught the game’s first touchdown pass, a 21-yard catch in the first quarter for the West. Jurek finished with three receptions for 37 yards.
Hoquiam’s Artimus Johnson was named the game’s most inspirational player.
The other three Harborites who played in the contest were Montesano’s Taylor Rupe, Raymond’s Luke Hamilton and South Bend’s A.J. Sanchez.
Tumwater’s Andrew May was the East’s Offensive Player of the Game. He is the son of Willapa Valley graduates Chris and Stacy (Brebner) May.
Also Selah head coach Scott Ditter, an Ocosta High Schol grad, coached the East squad.
