Local advances in Hoop Shoot; Local wrestling group seeks local talent; Poggie Club meeting Wed.

Local advances to state Hoop Shoot finals

Lawyer Niemi of Montesano won the Boys 8-9 year old division of the Elks Hoop Shoot regional youth free-throw shooting contest on Saturday, Feb. 5, in Port Angeles.

Niemi, who attends Simpson Elementary School, made 24-of-25 shots and will advance to the state finals scheduled to take place at St. Martin’s University in Lacey on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Brody Messick, also of Simpson Elementary, made 13-of-25 shots to place third in the regional contest.

Local promotion seeking wrestlers

Rogue Wrestling Attractions, LLC., a newly created local wrestling promotion, is seeking local talent willing to participate in live shows in the Twin Harbors area and possibly beyond.

Poggie Club meeting on Wednesday

There will be a Poggie Club meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoquiam Elks Lodge located at 624 K St.
