Several Twin Harbors track and field athletes won state titles at their respective Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Track & Field State Championships this past weekend, led by Hoquiam standout senior Jane Roloff.

Hoquiam’s Roloff cements legacy with three state titles
Hoquiam senior distance runner Jane Roloff cemented her legacy as one of the area’s greatest prep distance runners of all time by winning three state championships at the WIAA 1A State Championships this past weekend at Eisenhower High School in Yakima.
Roloff, who won just the second cross-country state championship in Hoquiam school history in the fall, swept all three of her races to end her prep season and career with four state championships.
After winning the girls 1600-meter race with a time of 4:58.86 on Thursday, Roloff qualified third in her 800 prelim race Friday afternoon.
Saturday morning Roloff was back at it, winning the 800 state title with a time of 2:16.61 – her second-best time of the season – to beat King’s Sophia Inglin (2:17.94, 2nd).
A little over one hour later, Roloff crossed the finish line well in front of the field to win the 3200, her third state title at the meet and fourth overall in two separate disciplines. Roloff crossed the finish line at 11:09.44, easily outpacing Fiona Fraser of Port Townsend (East Jefferson), who placed second with a time of 11:23.51.
Roloff wasn’t the only local athlete to win a state title at the meet as Montesano senior Mikayla Stanfield won her first state championship with a victory in the girls javelin.
Stanfield, who broke a long-standing school record with a 140 foot-plus throw earlier in the year, hit a mark of 132 feet, four inches to claim the state title over Bear Creek’s Quinn Smith (128-09, 2nd) and Seton Catholic’s Tiffany Sheldon (123-10, 3rd).
As a team, Hoquiam placed eighth overall with 30 points while Montesano was 14th with 20 points.

2B STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Raymond boys tie for eighth in the state
Thanks in part to a second-place finish by its boys 4×100-meter relay team, the Raymond Seagulls finished tied with La Conner for eighth in the state at the 2B State Championships at Eisenhower High School.
Raymond’s 4×100 relay team of senior Logan Frank, senior Austin Snodgrass, junior Isaac Schlueter and sophomore Chris Banker ran a time of 44.77, placing just 0.37 behind state-champion St. George’s to pace the Seagulls, which finished with 28 points as a team.
Snodgrass placed in the top five in the 100-meter run, the discus and the shot put to help Raymond pile up some points while Banker took third in the high jump with a leap of 6-02.
“We had a great showing at the state track meet. We came away with medals in every event we had an entry in and we equaled or improved our entry seed in every event as well,” said Raymond head coach Mike Tully, whose relay team took advantage of a mistake by the fastest team in the state. “We had the fourth fastest time in prelims and we were hoping that we might be able to move up to third in the final, but Colfax – the top-seeded team – dropped the baton on the first exchange and we were able to capitalize.”
