Forks 52, South Bend 38
South Bend dropped its second game in as many days, falling 52-38 to Forks on Thursday in South Bend.
Behind a solid defense, South Bend (0-2 overall, 2B Pacific) held Forks (2-3, 2-0) to 19 points in the first half — seven in the second quarter alone — to take a 25-19 lead into halftime.
But the Spartans came out hot in the second half, scoring 20 points in the third quarter to 39-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
South Bend scored just two points over the final eight minutes, leading to the loss.
“I was very happy with the effort that our team put forth tonight. I was especially pleased with our defense,” South Bend head coach John Schray said. “Forks is a well-coached, solid team. We went into the fourth only down 3 points and made some costly turnovers, which I believe were a result of us just running out of gas.”
South Bend was led by sophomore Branson Williams, who scored a team-high 12 points.
Josh Flynn and Ty Reidinger each grabbed six rebounds to lead South Bend.
