Hoquiam sits in first place all by itself after throttling Tenino 21-2 in three innings on Thursday in Tenino.

The Grizzlies (6-3 overall, 3-0 1A Evergreen) had 18 hits from 10 different players to cruise to a mercy-rule victory over the Beavers (2-5, 0-2).

Hoquiam scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning, six in the second and four in the fourth.

Senior infielder Ella Folkers led Hoquiam’s prodigious offense, going 4-for-4 with a double, four runs scored and four RBI.

Ashlinn Cady and DeVona Sansaver each belted a home run and a double in the game, with Cady driving in four runs and Sansaver plating three for Hoquiam.

Carron Blood picked up the win for Hoquiam, allowing two first-inning runs and three walks with four strikeouts in two innings pitched.

With the win, Hoquiam moves into sole possession of first place in the 1A Evergreen League and lead both Montesano and Elma by a half-game.

Hoquiam hosts Elma in a key league matchup at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Montesano kept pace atop the league lead with a 19-2 victory over Eatonville on Thursday in Eatonville.

Monte (7-2, 2-1) scored its first seven runs of the first inning without recording a hit. The Bulldogs led 7-0 after Eatonville pitchers allowed five walks and three hit batters and the Cruisers defense committed two errors in the first.

Up 7-0, Monte first baseman Kylee Wisdom stepped to the plate and crushed the first pitch she saw over the left field fence for a grand slam home run.

Monte went on to score three more runs in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth to earn the mercy-rule victory.

Wisdom filled up the stat sheet, going 2-for-3 with the grand slam, two runs and five RBI.

Alyssa Maldonado (2-2, 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI) and Carsyn Wintrip (2-3, 3B, R, 4 RBI) had two hits apiece while Liv Robinson scored three runs and hit a home run to lead off the top of the third inning.

Riley Timmons picked up the win, allowing no runs or hits with three walks and a strikeout in an inning pitched.

Montesano sits a half-game behind Hoquiam for the top spot in the league standings and will host Nooksack Valley in a non-conference matchup at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Raymond-South Bend won the first game of a doubleheader against Ilwaco 6-1 on Thursday in Ilwaco.

The Ravens (8-4, 5-1 2B Pacific) got three hits each from Kyndal Koski (3-4), Emma Glazier (3-4, 2 RBI) and Ava Pine (3-4, 3 RBI).

Summer Stigall picked up the win, striking out seven in pitching a complete game.

Raymond-South Bend 6, Ilwaco 5

Raymond-South Bend completed the twin-bill sweep with a 6-5 win over Ilwaco on Thursday in Ilwaco.

Tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and the bases loaded, Berklee Morley’s base hit drove in her sister, Raydynn Morley, with the game-winning, walk-off run to give the Ravens a rousing victory.

“It was a wholesome moment to see the excitement in their eyes,” Ravens head coach Dakota Brooks said. “These girls showed some grit today and played exactly how we knew they could. Everyone did their jobs today and it was great.”

Emma Glazier as a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with Ava Pine (3-4, 2 RBI), Berklee Morley (3-5) and Kyndal Koski (2-3) each had multi-hit games.

Ravens starting pitcher Ashlee Payne had two strikeouts in four innings with Summer Stigall pitching the final two frames to pick up the victory.

RSB enters its Spring Break and will not play again until a doubleheader against Pe Ell-Willapa Valley starting at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2.

Ocosta 17, North Beach 2

Ocosta needed just three innings to earn a 19-2 win over North Beach in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday in Westport.

The Wildcats (6-2, 4-2 2B Pacific) scored five in the first highlighted by a Jessie Gilbert two-run single and added 10 in the second, including back-to-back two-run doubles from Sam Schlegel and Josalyn Rosander.

Ocosta had 18 hits as a team and drew 11 walks, with Schlegel (2-4, 2B, 3 R, 2 RBI), Rosander (2-3, 2B, 3 R, 2 RBI), Noel Cuzdey (2-2, 3 R, 2 RBI) and Brynn Rasmus (2-3, 3 R, 2 RBI) knocking two hits apiece.

Rosander picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts in three innings pitched.

The Wildcats had 18 hits as a team and blew the game open with 13 runs in the second inning.

Ocosta was led by Jessie Gilbert (3-3, 3B, 2 R, 5 RBI) and Brynn Rasmus (3-3, 2B, R, 3 RBI) with three hits apiece as the Wildcats had seven different players with multiple hits in the game.

Josalyn Rosander picked up her second win of the day, allowing no runs or hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in three innings pitched.

Ocosta plays at Naselle at 4 p.m. on Friday.

The scoreboard at the end of Montesano’s matchup against Tenino on Thursday resembled a Friday night game in the fall rather than a springtime contest on the diamond.

In a game with plenty of offense, Montesano held on for a 19-16 win in Tenino.

The two teams combined for 22 hits and 24 walks in a wild back-and-forth game that saw Monte (10-1, 5-0 1A Evergreen) jump out to a 14-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning before Tenino (7-2, 0-1) rallied for five and six runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings, respectively.

Leading 19-14 in the bottom of the seventh, Tenino scored two runs and had the tying run at the plate with two outs before Bulldogs pitcher Cam Taylor retired Mickey Vasser and Carson Hart to end the game, earning the save.

Josh Wills led Monte, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBI.

Jackson Busz earned the win, allowing seven earned runs and three walks on five hits with two strikeouts in 4 1-3 innings pitched.

Montesano hosts Eatonville at 4 p.m. on Friday.
