VOLLEYBALL

Raymond 3, Rainier 0

Raymond won for the second time in as many days with a straight-set win over Rainier on Thursday at Raymond High School.

The Seagulls (2-0) took the first two games by scores of 25-11 and 25-17 and trailed 24-21 in the third game before battling back for a thrilling 27-25 victory, with Ava Baugher serving the closing two points.

“We played with a lot of energy tonight and our team chemistry was key,” Raymond head coach Julie Jewell said. “After struggling with serving against Morton-White Pass (on Wednesday), our serving was a big part of our offense tonight.”

Raymond had 17 aces in the match, led by Alia Enlow (5 aces) and Karsyn Freeman (5 aces).

Baugher added four aces with Caton Swogger recording three aces for Raymond.

Freeman led the Seagulls offense with 16 kills with Enlow adding nine kills.

Baylee Price and Kendall Koski were noted by Jewell and playing “solid defensively.”

Raymond’s JV team lost to Rainier JV 25-19 and 25-22 on Thursday.

Raymond hosts Ocosta at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
