The Titans (8-0) gave up their first two runs of the year in the third inning and trailed the Ducks 2-0 when PWV rallied for three runs in the sixth inning. Brittany Patrick singled to score the first run and Kamryn Adkins blasted a shot past the second baseman to score the other two runs and give the Titans the victory.
“We started out the game just hitting it right at them or they were chasing it down, but the girls kept at it and took advantage of a couple of mistakes they made and got a couple hits when we needed them,” PWV head coach Ken Olson said. “Give our kids credit for hanging around. It was just an awesome high school game with two great teams.”
PWV’s Dakota Brooks kept the Ducks off the bases with 10 strikeouts in the contest.
Olson cited Toutle Lake center fielder Britzy Hockett for running down a few well-hit balls in the contest.

Doing all its scoring in the second half, Aberdeen topped Centralia in an Evergreen 2A Conference contest Tuesday at Stewart Field.
Although outshooting the Tigers 16-6, the Bobcats (3-1, 6-2) didn’t find the net until the 50th minute.
Taking a through ball from Cesar Corona, Bobcat striker Miguel Torres was fouled by the goalkeeper on a breakaway and converted the resulting penalty kick.
Torres set up Luis Martinez for another goal some 10 minutes later. Martinez again beat the goalkeeper on a one-on-one thrust off a pass from Tony Oropeza with 14 minutes remaining to close out the scoring.
Aberdeen goalkeeper Alexis Garcia made a diving save in the first half to keep Centralia scoreless. It was his sixth shutout of the season.
“The Tigers had us on our heels in the first 15 minutes,” Aberdeen coach Larry Fleming conceded. “But we slowly figured it out by halftime and dominated the second half with good mental and physical toughness and great all-around teamwork.”
Fleming cited the play of Robby Lewis, Anthony Churlin and Trevor Dawkins on defense and midfielders Alejandro Felipe and Luis Garcia.
Centralia won the JV match, 1-0. Bobcat coach Alfie Bensinger cited Luis Soto, Johnny Pizano and Toby Courts for fine play.
The Cats journey to Rochester on Thursday.

Trace Thompson led the Eagles (2-1, 3-5-1) with four goals as Elma scored five markers in the first half.
The games first goal came off the rebound of a shot from Thompson when Avery Brown crossed a ball to Alex Salas for what would be the game-winner in the 13th minute. Adonis Torres sent a long pass three minutes later and hit Thompson in stride for a one-touch shot past the goalkeeper.
Thompson headed home his second goal in the 21st minute and fought off a defender to beat the keeper one-on-one in the 32nd minute for the hat trick.
Carlos Bautista added a goal in the 39th minute and A.J. Hernandez came up from his usual spot at goalkeeper to score a goal for the Eagles in the 44th minute.
Thompson ran on to add one more in the 56th minute to cap the scoring for the Eagles.
“We were able to win balls in the midfield and play dangerous balls ahead,” Elma head coach Carson Seaberg said. “It was nice to get a game like this coming out of Spring Break. It was fun for the fans and the kids.”
Elma travels to Hoquiam on Thursday.

Aberdeen coach Ashley Kohlmeier said several of her players were more competitive than the scores indicated.
“We have essentially been on a tennis court for two hours prior to today’s match and we have a lot of first-year players,” Kohlmeier said. “I definitely saw some promising hitting going into the next three weeks of basically having a match every single day.”

“Playing a difficult and unfamiliar course so soon after the break was a bit of a challenge for the girls,” Monte coach Lloyd Aldrich said. “The speed of the greens and the numerous elevation changes throughout the course were things they were not really used to. But we held our own for the most part in splitting the individual matches 3-3, even though we ended up losing overall.”
