BOYS SOCCER
Bobcats 5, Tigers 0
CENTRALIA — Trevor Dawkins and Brendan Ford scored two goals apiece as Aberdeen dominated Centralia in an Evergreen 2A Conference contest Tuesday night at Tiger Stadium.
Aberdeen (2-2, 5-3) controlled the match as thoroughly as the score indicated. The Cats outshot the Tigers, 15-4.
“This was a very good performance for the boys in all aspects of the game,” AHS coach Larry Fleming said. “They’ve improved so much and worked so hard in some very frustrating losses. They deserved some success.”
Ordinarily slow starters, the Bobcats needed only three minutes to open the scoring. Dawkins took a pass from Christian Sanchez and beat the goalkeeper on a breakaway. The senior forward scored again in the 18th minute.
Ford, a defender, moved up front to convert a pass from Dawkins in the 37th minute. He scored the final AHS goal on a penalty kick with about eight minutes remaining in the match.
Hulizes Chavez scored the other Bobcat goal, off an assist from Luis Martinez.
Sanchez, Tony Oropeza and Luis Garcia were cited by Fleming for fine performances.
Centralia won the JV match, 4-0. Toby Courts and Ricardo Ortiz were cited by assistant coach Ben Barene.
The Bobcats return home Thursday to face Rochester.
SOFTBALL
Gulls 15, Monte JV 2
Raymond’s girls got a measure of revenge against Montesano’s junior varsity after an early season loss.
The Gulls got offense from all over the place with three players coming up with two RBI apiece.
Raymond head coach Jason Koski said his team was more mentally prepared to execute the game plan than they were last time.
“It was good to get redemption after they beat us on our field earlier in the season,” he said. “Their pitcher was actually throwing really well but we had a better mental approach today and we showed up ready to play.”
The Gulls (9-3) will have a long layoff until April 24 when they take on Lake Quinault.

Tumwater’s Landen Jordan came away with 12 strikeouts in just five innings of work on the mound and only surrendered one hit.
Aberdeen head coach Shon Schreiber took responsibility for the loss.
“I take the full blame for the lackluster performance today. I apologize to all Bobcat baseball fans,” he said. “I didn’t get our players prepared for what Tumwater has.”
