Elma 14, Ocosta 3
The Elma Eagles scored 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 14-3 five-inning victory over Ocosta on Tuesday in Elma.
Ocosta (11-8) took a 2-0 lead after Evalyn Marsh scored on a wild pitch and Kaylee Barnum scored on a Krystal Morales sacrifice fly.
But Elma’s offense wasted little time getting to work, scoring 10 runs in a first inning that included run-scoring doubles from Molly Johnston, Jalyn Whipple and Morgan Thompson.
Elma (17-1), the state’s No. 2 team in the 1A section, collected 14 hits in the Senior Night ballgame.
The Eagles had help as Ocosta’s defense committed 10 errors in the game, leading to eight unearned runs.
Destry Dineen earned the victory for Elma, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out 11 Wildcats.
Kassedy Olson led Elma’s offense with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate. The senior had a double, a triple and scored four runs in the victory.
Morgan Thompson went 3-for-3 with a double and Molly Johnston had a 2-for-3 game for Elma.
“For the coaching staff, this is the first group we’ve had since they were freshman,” Elma assistant coach Ashley Stancil said. “(Senior Night) was bittersweet. … It was very emotional and there were tears, but we’re not done yet. … They just went out and enjoyed playing fastpitch. They played in the moment.”
Elma has a non-league match against PWV at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Ocosta takes on Forks at 4 p.m. on Thursday in Forks.
Hoquiam 13, Forks 12
Kylee Bagwell hit a walk-off single to complete a dramatic comeback for Hoquiam in its 13-12 win over Forks on Tuesday.
Hoquiam’s dramatic victory on the last day of the league schedule moved the Grizzlies into third place in the 1A Evergreen League standings.
The Grizzlies (8-7, 3-4 Evergreen 1A) were down 12-11 in the bottom of the seventh and drew even with an RBI double from Jade Cox. Bagwell drove in Cox with a single up the middle that brought home the victory.
The seventh-inning walk-off was the second time the Grizzlies came back in the game as Forks (7-8, 2-5) went up 9-2 in the third inning after the Spartans scored eight runs in the frame.
Hoquiam head coach Keith Reynvaan was impressed with how his players kept fighting even when the deficit appeared insurmountable.
“The girls never gave up and they just kept chipping away,” he said. “We got the hits at the right time and we got runners on and Jump and Bagwell drove in some key RBI.”
Hoquiam is finished the league-play and has one more non-league game at Napavine at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

WF West 10, Aberdeen 0
Aberdeen didn’t have any answers for league-leading WF West in a 10-0 road loss on Tuesday.
The Bobcats (7-10, 6-8 Evergreen 2A) had trouble at the plate and only had three hits, two of which came from Hailey Wilson.
The Bearcats (17-2, 12-2) got hits from every player in the batting order, including homers from Ava Fugate, Ashley Whalen and Paetynn Lopez.
Aberdeen head coach Scott Wilson said he wants to keep the team in good spirits and noted that injuries forced him to play a more youthful lineup than normal.
“We just have to stay positive and keep working hard. There are plenty of games left to play,” he said. “We started with two freshmen and two sophomores on the infield. We were really young today and it showed.”
Aberdeen will try to snap its four-game losing streak when it closes out the season against Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at home.
