Aberdeen’s season came to an end on Tuesday with a 10-0 loss to Tumwater in five innings in a 2A District 4 quarterfinal game in Tumwater.
The Bobcats feel behind early against the 2A Evergreen League’s No. 1 seed as Tumwater got to Bobcats starting pitcher Malaki Balesteri for five runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Leading 6-0 in the third, Tumwater (16-2 overall) scored four more runs to go up 10-0.
Balesteri took the loss, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits with four strikeouts and two walks in three innings pitched.
Trey Anderson pitched one inning of relief for Aberdeen (4-10), allowing no runs on one hit with one strikeout.
Aberdeen managed just two hits off Thunderbirds pitching, with Luca Pisani and Charlie Ancich getting a single apiece.

Napavine 56, Elma 45
Elma opened its 2021 season with a 56-45 loss to Napavine on Wednesday in Elma.
The Eagles (0-1 overall) got off to a slow start with just nine points in the first quarter and never really got into an offensive groove, missing many open shots.
“We had some really good looks in the first half, but couldn’t get much to drop,” Elma head coach Jeff Niemi said. “(Napavine) out-scrapped us at times. … They were really tough and are a big, strong team.”
Elma hosts Hoquiam at 5:30 p.m. on Friday as the first part of a varsity doubleheader with the girls varsity game scheduled at 7 p.m.

Ocosta 56, Chief Leschi 44
A balanced Ocosta offense helped the Wildcats improve to 2-0 on the season with a 56-44 win over Chief Leschi on Wednesday in Westport.
Eight different Wildcats scored in the game, led by Kobe Rudolph’s 17 points.
The Wildcats got off to a hot start, opening the game on a 12-2 run before Chief Leschi cut the lead to one at 24-23 in the second quarter.
But Ocosta (2-0 overall, 2B Pacific) responded with a run of its own, outscoring the Warriors 19-4 to put the game out of reach in the second half.
Rudolph had 10 rebounds to lead an Ocosta team that totalled 37 rebounds on the night.
The Wildcats also played a disciplined game, committing just two fouls on Wednesday.
“I was pleased with our rebounding again tonight,” Ocosta head coach Jason Quinby said. “Another big thing to note was that we only committed two team fouls the entire game. This is after committing 11 in the first quarter alone last game, so big improvement there.”
Ocosta’s Mark Lewis finished with 10 points and four rebounds with Kyle Wardlow (7 points, 8 rebounds) and Xander Prigmore (6 pts., 8 reb.) also contributing to the Ocosta effort.

Ilwaco 74, Raymond 50
Raymond fell behind to an an aggressive, physical Ilwaco team and never recovered in a 74-50 loss to the Fishermen on Wednesday in Ilwaco.
Raymond (0-2 overall, 2B Pacific) struggled to get stops against Ilwaco (2-0), falling behind 19-6 at the end of the first quarter and were outscored by 14 points in the third quarter as Ilwaco put the game away.
“Ilwaco took it to us early on, and we had a tough time adjusting,” Raymond head coach Derek Rask said. “I thought they were more physical and they made us uncomfortable throughout the entire game. We could never put together a solid run offensively to cut into their lead. Their defense took us out of rhythm and we didn’t execute like we needed to.”
Morgan Anderson led Raymond with 19 points while Talan Yearout finished the game with a team-high seven rebounds.
