BOYS GOLF
Aberdeen 244, Shelton 251
Down by seven strokes after four golfers recorded their scores, Aberdeen rallied behind sub-50 rounds from Hunter Eisele and Trevon Nichols to defeat Shelton 244-251 on Wednesday at Alderbrook Golf Club in Union.
After the first four golfers for each team entered the clubhouse after completing their rounds on the back-9, Aberdeen was in an unfamiliar position of being behind on the scorecard by seven strokes.
But Eisele and Nichols, Aberdeen’s last two golfers on the course, shot identical scores of 49, which made the difference in the Bobcats’ 7-stroke victory.
“This win was a nail-biter right to the end,” Aberdeen head coach Dan Sundstrom said.
Aberdeen was led by standout Nolan King, who took Medalist honors with a 3-over par 39 that included a birdie on the par-5 13th hole.
“After a rough start, Nolan was able to right the ship,” Sundstrom said.
