GIRLS PREP SOCCER

Adna 4, Ocosta 0

The first-place Adna Pirates were too much for Ocosta girls soccer team to handle as the Wildcats fell 4-0 on Wednesday in Adna.

Ocosta couldn’t get much going on the way of offense as Adna (12-2-1 overall, 8-0 Pacific 2B) put pressure on the Wildcats the entire game, pummeling Ocosta’s defense and keeper Devyn Martin with 45 shots on the evening.

Four of Adna’s shots found the back of the net in the first half and the Pirates looked to add more after the break, but Ocosta (8-6-1, 5-3) shored up its defense to hold Adna scoreless in the second half.

Martin finished the game with 24 saves.

With the loss, Ocosta sits in a tie for fourth place with Onalaska and Napavine.

The Wildcats round out the regular season with a critical matchup against Onalaska at 6 p.m. on Monday in Westport.

PREP VOLLEYBALL

WF West 3, Aberdeen 0

Aberdeen suffered its 10th straight-set loss of the season, falling 3-0 to the WF West Bearcats on Wednesday in Aberdeen.

Facing a Bearcats team featuring three 6-footers, Aberdeen (0-12, 0-7 Evergreen 2A) lost 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18.

“They spread their attack well and their setter kept our blockers guessing, so they had a lot of attacks with no block or late blockers and we had a hard time defending against that,” Aberdeen head coach Doug Basler said.

Basler added that he has been experimenting with different lineups the past few games, trying to find a mix of players that would be more fruitful for the Bobcats.

“I’ve been playing with the lineup the last several nights, trying to find the right mix of girls,” he said. “We got frustrated in Game 2, but I was proud of how we fought in games one and three.”

Senior middle blocker Kennedy Pruett once again led Aberdeen, recording six kills with three blocks against WF West (3-8, 3-4).
