COLLEGE SOCCER

Bellevue 9, Grays Harbor 0

Grays Harbor College allowed hat tricks from two different players in a 9-0 loss to Bellevue on Wednesday at Stewart Field.

Lauren Landis and Katelyn Evans scored three goals apiece in a game that was called after only 70 minutes of action due to the one-sided score and a lack of healthy Chokers players.

GHC (0-15, 0-13, Northwest Athletic Conference) started the game with only 10 players on the field and ended the game with nine on the pitch after Taeler Nilles suffered a leg injury late in the first half.

With his players struggling to fill their roles on the field during the match and suffering through a winless season, Chokers head coach Kevin Brown said this season has been tough on his team.

“Any time you’re losing it’s not fun. Players can have an issue where players disagree and when you’re winning a lot of that stuff kind of goes away,” he said. “When a lot of goals are going in your net and you’re not getting any the other way, it can be frustrating. They’re all competitive and nobody wants that.”

GHC will have one more chance to capture a win this season when they close out the year against conference-leading Highline at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stewart Field.
