GIRLS PREP SOCCER

Tumwater 4, Aberdeen 0

Another key injury cost the Aberdeen Bobcats soccer team in a 4-0 loss to Tumwater on Saturday at Stewart Field in Aberdeen.

Down 1-0 after a close first half, Aberdeen goal keeper Jaylynn Phimmasone — who was in place for injured starter Dom Trevino — had to leave the game due to injury.

Senior forward Maddi Gore — Aberdeen’s top goal-scorer — played the rest of the way in net for the Bobcats and was peppered with shots as Aberdeen allowed three second-half goals in the loss to the undefeated Thunderbirds (12-0-2, 11-0 2A Evergreen).

“The girls played hard and were able to give the opponent some anxiety for about 50 minutes,” Aberdeen head coach Larry Fleming said, noting after giving up an early goal, the Bobcats defense held Tumwater scoreless through the remainder of the first half. “Great effort by our players.”

Aberdeen (9-3, 7-3) sits in second place in the 2A Evergreen Conference and will face Shelton at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shelton High School.
