Starting today, anglers can keep up to two Chinook as part of their two salmon daily limit in Marine Area 2 (Westport), according to an emergency rule change posted by the State Department of Fish and Wildlife Wednesday.
“Sufficient quota remains for Chinook in Marine Area 2 to allow retention of more than one Chinook salmon in the daily limit,” read the rule change.
The Chinook minimum size is 24 inches, coho 16 inches. The daily limit remains two salmon, and all wild coho must be released. The Grays Harbor control zone and Marine Area 2-2 west of Buoy 13 are closed to salmon angling beginning Aug. 12.
