WISHKAH — A simple situation for Wishkah softball greeted it on Wednesday afternoon — win and go to state or lose and go home for the summer.
Hosting Mount Rainier Lutheran, the Loggerettes produced two big innings to run away with an 8-2 victory in the District IV 1B Tournament opening round.
Today, Wishkah will travel to Quilcene for the district semifinals at 4 p.m. A win will set up a berth into the district title game on Saturday back in Quilcene. A loss will move it into a third-fourth place seeding game, also on Saturday in Quilcene.
“Our team played very well defensively,” Wishkah head coach Tove Reibel said. “They were aggressive on the bases and worked hard for the win.”
Emily Olson picked up the win, scatting two hits and only giving up one solo run in the first and third innings. She struck out nine and walked three in the circle.
Erica Bomhoff and Tiana Warren each drove in two runs, with Bomhoff and Jessie Thompson slugging triples and Warren a double. Olson led the team with two hits, both singles, at the plate.
