South winds of 30-35 mph and gusts to 50 mph are in the forecast for midnight to 10 a.m. Tuesday along the north and central coast, according to the National Weather Service.
“A wind advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected,” said Hannah Cleverly, deputy director of Grays Harbor Emergency Management. “Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Winds may be strong enough to down tree limbs, causing local power outages.”
The advisory covers the coast from the southern end of Grays Harbor County north to Neah Bay to about 20 miles inland. Some places that will be impacted include Westport, Hoquiam and La Push. The strongest winds are forecast in Aberdeen between 7 and 10 a.m. Tuesday with gusts to 24 mph. The strongest winds in Westport, 26 mph sustained, are expected about 2 a.m. according to the forecast.
