Dorothy E. Hall, age 95, a resident of Aberdeen, died on Dec. 21, 2017, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam. Mrs. Hall was born on May 8, 1922, in Portland, Ore. to Gustav and Fannie (Knisberg) Nelson. Dorothy was raised in the St. Johns area of Portland with two brothers and a sister. After completing her schooling, she worked at department stores in downtown Portland.

In 1944, she married James H. Ray. They had one son, James B. Ray and a daughter, Eleanor, who died in her infancy.

James and Dorothy were divorced and Dorothy and her son moved to Aberdeen, Wash. in 1950. In Aberdeen, she was employed at Questi Hardware on Heron Street. While working there, she met and married Milford “Tubby” Hall of Cosmopolis. In Cosmopolis, they raised Jim and his step-brother, Kenneth Hall.

Dorothy and Tubby were both very active in the Cosmopolis Lions Club and loved to participate in Lions Club Conventions all over the Northwest and Canada. They enjoyed their summer home on Eld Inlet near Olympia and loved entertaining their family and guests.

Tubby passed away in 1968 and Dorothy then went to work in the kitchen at St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen. She worked there for two decades prior to her retirement.

In her retirement years, she managed her rental property and loved to travel. She made various tours of the West Coast, Canada, and Hawaii; sometimes accompanied by her mother Fannie. Cruise ships were another favorite means of travel.

Her hobbies included daily walks, gardening, crocheting, cooking and helping take care of her great-grandchildren.

In later years, she moved to Leisure Manor, a senior citizen mobile home park in South Aberdeen. She loved living at the park, playing Bingo and socializing with her many friends at the park.

Dorothy is survived by her son James (JoAnn) Ray of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Allison (Barrett) Hanson of Sammamish, Steve (Kim) Fogo of Hoquiam, Denise Fogo of Pullman; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her passing was preceded by her brothers, Chester and Moran and her sister, Melba Questi.
