Vicky Lynn (Anderson) Johnson was born on July 11, 1954, in Jamestown, North Dakota. She was a 42-year resident of Hoquiam, Washington. She died on Jan. 18, 2019, in Raymond, Washington, at the age of 64.
Vicky grew up on a farm in Kulm, North Dakota, with her parents, Arley and Joyce Anderson, two brothers and two sisters. She has many fond childhood memories working on the farm preparing her for one of her greatest passions in life, helping bring little humans into the world.
She graduated from Kulm High School in 1973 and attended Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota, where she received an Associate’s Degree in 1976. Her passion to help people pulled her to Asyut, Egypt, later that year to work at the Lillian Trasher Orphanage. Her training from the farm kicked in while she was there and she helped to deliver a baby on the side of a road. Somewhere in Egypt there is a Victor named after her.
Vicky followed her college friend, Karna McCarthy, to the state of Washington and she moved to Aberdeen in 1977. She soon met the love of her life at church, Jack Johnson, and they were married in 1980. With her marriage, Vicky welcomed three daughters into her life, Kjersti, Tara and Jennifer. Jack and Vicky then had Natalie in 1982 and Kyle in 1984 and Nancy later joined the family as their daughter.
Vicky worked a variety of jobs in Hoquiam and Aberdeen with a majority of that time spent at Dr. Forrester’s Orthodontics office. She met many lifelong friends there and touched many lives with her infectious smile. She also loved her time and the friends she made during her time at Portrait Expressions, Dohrmann Family Chiropractic and most recently the Coastal Community Action Program, where she poured her heart into the seniors of this community.
Outside her day job, Vicky taught child birth classes for 20-plus years, while the number is now legend, we believe she was part of at least 300 births. Vicky was the one everyone wanted with them during their hardest and most joyous moments. It was a passion of hers and a gift.
In her spare time, Vicky loved to spend time with her grandchildren, parents, nieces and nephews and her brothers and sisters. She also loved lunches and the occasional shopping trip with her good friends. She also fancied herself an amateur photographer, documenting special moments for her family and friends.
Vicky was also heavily involved in her local church, Cornerstone Community Church, where she touched many lives through youth group, children’s church as well as women’s and couple’s ministries. She became a confidant, counselor, friend and second mother to so many. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love and compassion that her family is so proud of.
